Saif Ali Khan Attack: Akshay Kumar On Main Khiladi Tu Anari Co-Star's "Bravery"

Saif Ali Khan was stabbed six times at his Bandra home in the early hours of January 16. The incident sent shockwaves among people across the nation. Days after the brutal attack, Saif Ali Khan's Main Khiladi Tu Anari co-star Akshay Kumar talked about it during a promotional event of his upcoming film Sky Force.

Akshay Kumar praised Saif Ali Khan's bravery and expressed relief as he's recovering. "It's very nice that he is safe. It's very good, we are happy. The whole industry is very happy that he is safe. And, it was very brave of him that he protected his family and hats off to him for that," Akshay Kumar said at a press conference in Delhi. 

On a lighter note, the actor jokingly added that if they do a film together again, it should be titled Do Khiladi. "Meine uske saath ek film ki hai Main Khiladi Tu Anari lekin agli baar agar hum karenge toh banayenge film Do Khiladi (I would say that I did a film with him earlier called Main Khiladi Tu Anari. Now, if we do a film together, then it will be a called Do Khiladi)," he said.

The hospital, in a media briefing on Thursday afternoon, said that Saif Ali Khan was stabbed in the spine with a knife, and that they have repaired the leaking spinal fluid. Khan has two deep wounds on his hands and neck, which were repaired by plastic surgery.

On Sunday, a 30-year-old Bangladeshi national was arrested of stabbing Saif Ali Khan after breaking into his house. He confessed his crime, saying "haan, maine hi kiya hai (yes, I did it)", according to sources.

According to police sources, Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad was arrested from near Hiranandani Estate in Kasarvadavali in Thane, about 35 kilometres from Mr Khan's house in Mumbai's Bandra area. The breakthrough came after over 70 hours of an intense manhunt that was launched following the attack during an attempted burglary bid in the early hours of Thursday. 

After being caught, when a senior officer asked Shehzad if he was the one who had attacked Mr Khan, the accused said "haan, maine hi kiya hai", a source said.

The police traced Shehzad to a labour camp in a forested area based on the information provided by a labour contractor. 

A Mumbai court granted the city police five-day custody of Shariful Islam Shehzad.

The iQOO Neo 10R 5G may debut in India equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset with up to 12GB of RAM.

In terms of pricing, it is tipped to be available in the market under Rs. 30,000, potentially competing with the likes of the Motorola Edge 50 Pro and the new Poco X7 Pro. However, it remains unclear if all variants of the iQOO handset will fall under this price bracket.

The purported iQOO Neo 10R 5G is said to sport a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate. The phone could come with the model number ‘I2221'. It may be powered by Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset under the hood and sold in two RAM variants with the same storage capacity — 8GB+256GB and 12GB+256GB.

For optics, it is speculated to sport a dual rear camera setup, comprising a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-600 sensor and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle shooter. There may also be a 16-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calls. The iQOO Neo 10R 5G is tipped to pack a 6,400mAh battery with support for 80W fast charging.

Study Finds Coronal Loop Flickers Could Predict Solar Flares Hours in Advance

For years, scientists have sought methods to predict solar flares, the intense energy bursts from the Sun capable of disrupting technology and posing risks to astronauts. Using NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory, researchers have identified brightness fluctuations in coronal loops—arch-like plasma structures in the solar atmosphere—that may provide advance warning of strong solar flares. These findings could enhance safety measures for space missions and safeguard technology affected by space weather disturbances.

Findings on Coronal Loops and Solar Flares

According to a study published in Astrophysical Journal Letters and presented at the American Astronomical Society meeting, the research led by Emily Mason of Predictive Sciences Inc. analysed coronal loops in areas preceding 50 major solar flares. Significant brightness variations in extreme ultraviolet light were observed in loops above active regions compared to those in non-flaring zones. This flickering reportedly intensifies hours before a flare occurs, suggesting a potential predictive metric. In her statement to the press, Mason noted the discovery's importance in understanding solar flare mechanisms and improving forecasting accuracy. These variations could predict flares 2 to 6 hours in advance, with an accuracy of 60 to 80 percent.

Potential Applications and Challenges

As per an official release from NASA, Seth Garland from the Air Force Institute of Technology highlighted that while previous methods focused on generalised likelihoods, the current approach might offer more specific timing predictions. Kara Kniezewski, a lead author and graduate researcher, added that chaotic patterns in loop emissions, rather than trends, provided consistent predictive results. Vadim Uritsky from NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center explained that integrating this method into real-time systems could facilitate early alerts for space missions and terrestrial systems, although further observations are needed to refine the correlation between loop flickering and flare intensity.

This breakthrough may pave the way for predictive systems capable of mitigating the risks posed by solar activity, offering better protection for critical technologies and human endeavours in space.

Seismic activity around Iceland's Bárðarbunga volcano has increased dramatically, with over 130 earthquakes recorded within a span of five hours. The tremors, which began early on January 14, included a significant 5.1 magnitude quake. The Bárðarbunga system is among Iceland's largest volcanic zones, and experts are closely monitoring the situation for potential eruptions, particularly given the region's history of powerful volcanic activity. Its most recent eruption, from 2014 to 2015, was the country's largest in over 300 years.

Bárðarbunga's Volcanic Potential

According to the Icelandic Meteorological Office (IMO), as reported by Live Science, Bárðarbunga is an expansive system extending roughly 190 kilometres in length. Its central stratovolcano, largely covered by ice, is marked by a massive caldera filled with a glacier. This region's eruptions have historically been significant, with lava fields forming vast expanses such as Holuhraun, the result of the 2014 event. That eruption not only created a lava field larger than Manhattan but also released considerable amounts of toxic gas into the atmosphere.

Expert Analysis of Recent Activity

IMO representatives have stated that Bárðarbunga is exhibiting "unusually large" seismic activity, though predicting the exact outcome remains challenging. Several scenarios have been proposed, ranging from eruptions outside the caldera, similar to the 2014 event, to more explosive activity beneath the glacier. Glacial outburst floods and ash emissions are potential outcomes if an eruption occurs within the caldera.

Implications and Monitoring

Months of heightened seismic activity in the region had already been noted, but the recent swarm has intensified concerns. Scientists and officials are now focused on understanding whether the earthquakes signal magma movement or tectonic shifts unrelated to an imminent eruption. Saif Ali Khan Attack: Urvashi Rautela Issues Apology For Her "Insensitive And Ignorant" Remarks: "Was Caught Up In The Excitement Of My Gifts"

Urvashi Rautela recently faced backlash on social media for making insensitive remarks following the stabbing incident involving actor Saif Ali Khan. While expressing her condemnation of the attack, Urvashi also showed off her diamond-studded watch, which many found tone-deaf in light of the severity of the situation. 

In response to the widespread criticism, Urvashi recently issued an apology and acknowledged her lack of understanding of the seriousness of the attack at the time.

Her statement read, "Dear Saif Ali Khan sir, I hope this message finds you in strength. I am writing with a deep sense of regret and heartfelt apology. Until now, I was completely unaware of the intensity of the situation you are facing. I feel ashamed that I allowed myself to be consumed by the excitement surrounding Daaku Maharaaj and the gifts I was receiving, instead of pausing to acknowledge and understand what you are going through."

"Please accept my sincerest apologies for being so ignorant and insensitive. Now that I know the gravity of your case, I am deeply moved and want to extend my unwavering support. Your grace, dignity, and resilience during such a challenging time are truly admirable, and I have nothing but immense respect for your strength," she added.

The actress concluded, "If there is any way I can be of help or support, please do not hesitate to let me know. Once again, I am truly sorry, sir, for my earlier indifference. I promise to do better and to always prioritize compassion and understanding in the future."

ICYDK: In an interview with ANI, Urvashi was asked about the stabbing incident at Saif's Mumbai residence. While she voiced her concern for the actor, her comment about her jewellery drew ire. 

"It is very unfortunate. Now Daaku Maharaaj has crossed Rs 105 crore at the box office, and my mother gifted me this diamond-studded Rolex, while my father gifted me this mini watch on my finger, but we don't feel confident wearing it outside openly. There is this insecurity that anybody can attack us. Whatever happened was very unfortunate," she said.

The incident that led to the controversy occurred on Thursday morning when Saif was stabbed by an intruder who reportedly broke into his house. The actor sustained multiple injuries, including one near his spine and another on his neck. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital for treatment and underwent several surgeries. 

Saif's team shared a statement and mentioned that he is now out of danger and recovering. As of Saturday, the Mumbai police had not yet detained any suspects in connection with the attack.
