iQoo Z9x 5G Listed on Company's India Website; Could Launch Soon

iQoo Z9x 5G, which launched in China in April this year, could soon make its way to India. The phone was spotted on the country's official website recently. It is expected to join the iQoo Z9 5G, which was introduced in India in March. The Indian variant of the iQoo Z9x 5G may share similar specifications as its Chinese counterpart including the design. The handset is said to be a rebranded version of the Vivo T3x 5G.

Although iQoo India has not yet officially confirmed the expected arrival of the iQoo Z9x 5G in the Indian market, the phone has been spotted on the company website's accessories support page. The list of all the iQoo Z9x 5G's spare parts are listed. This suggests an imminent India launch of the handset.

The Chinese version of the iQoo Z9x 5G sports a 6.72-inch 120Hz LCD screen and a 50-megapixel AI-backed dual rear camera system. The phone carries an 8-megapixel selfie camera and ships with Android 14-based OriginOS 4. It comes with a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC with up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS2.2 onboard storage. The handset also packs a 6,000mAh battery with 44W fast charging support.

Offered in Dark Night, Feng Yuqing, and Starburst White (translated from Chinese) colour options, the iQoo Z9x price in China starts at CNY 1,299 (roughly Rs. 15,000) for the 8GB + 128GB option. It is also available in 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 256GB variants.

The Vivo T3x 5G, identical in terms of specifications to the iQoo Z9x, was launched in India in April this year. It starts at Rs. 13,499 for the 4GB + 128GB option, while the 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 128GB variants are priced at Rs. 14,999 and Rs. 16,499, respectively.

The controversy is further fueled by the well-documented legal battles between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.

The couple's highly publicized marriage and subsequent split in 2015 garnered significant media attention. Their legal disputes escalated in 2019 when Depp filed a defamation lawsuit against Heard over an op-ed she wrote about domestic violence, although Depp was not directly named in the article.

After a protracted court battle marked by sensational allegations from both parties, Depp emerged victorious on all defamation claims, while Heard won one claim and was awarded damages.

Against this backdrop, the inclusion of a reference to their relationship in The Fall Guy has struck a nerve with many viewers.

EyeEm Stock Photo Marketplace Updates Its Policy to Use Uploaded Content to Train AI Models

EyeEm, the stock photo marketplace, has updated its terms and conditions to specify that the company which was acquired by Spain-based Freepik in 2023, can use the uploaded content on the platform to train artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) models. The platform has also told its users that in case they do not consent to this, they should not add any photo to the EyeEm community and delete all the existing images. However, another section of the terms and conditions highlights that if an account is deleted, the company will not payout the accumulated share of photographers.

According to a report by TechCrunch, the company notified its users of the change via email. The email reportedly highlighted that EyeEm was adding a new clause to its terms and conditions which would provide it the rights to leverage users' content to train AI. The email also specified that users had 30 days to opt out by removing all of their content. Notably, the publication also reported that EyeEm's photo library contained 160 million photos and had 1.5 lakhs users at the time of acquisition.

The Section 8.1 of the Terms & Conditions page of EyeEm contains information around ‘Grants of Rights' for its community including getting non-exclusive, worldwide, transferable and sublicensable right for its commercial activities. It now includes a new paragraph that states, “This specifically includes the sublicensable and transferable right to use your Content for the training, development and improvement of software, algorithms and machine learning models. In case you do not agree to this, you should not add your Content to EyeEm Community.”

While the company does give an opt-out, it requires them to delete all the content on the platform. Notably, many users are struggling to find a batch delete option for images, so those users are stuck deleting the images one by one. However, even if they delete the images at their end, the images already available in the marketplace or shared with its distribution platforms will not go away immediately. In Section 13, the company states, “Complete deletion from EyeEm Market and distribution partner platforms may take up to 180 days from the date of your deletion request.”

But there is more. In the same section, the company also adds, “All license agreements entered into before complete deletion and the rights of use granted thereby remain unaffected by the request for deletion or the deletion.” This means even the deletion of the content does not confirm revoking the licence granted to the platform if the user entered any licence agreements.

And finally, there is another caveat. In Section 10.3, pertaining to Licence Share and Payout, EyeEm states, “If your account is deleted, you lose the right to payouts for all accumulated and future Licenses Shares. Please therefore make sure that you submit a Payment Request prior to the deletion of your account.”

Based on the highlighted sections above, it can be gauged that the company has placed multiple conditions for users who do not want to consent to their images being used by the AI. The over-email notification, a short period of 30 days, and multiple hurdles including difficulties in deletion process such as requirement to submit a form to the company for marketplace removal, and risking the payout if the account is deleted is sure to create confusion and difficulty for users to opt-out.

Notably, the European Union, in its General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)'s description of consent mentions, “Consent must be unambiguous, which means it requires either a statement or a clear affirmative act. Consent cannot be implied and must always be given through an opt-in, a declaration or an active motion, so that there is no misunderstanding that the data subject has consented to the particular processing.”

Snapdragon X Elite Surfaces on Geekbench, Beats Apple's M3 Chip in Multi-Core Test

Snapdragon X Elite — Qualcomm's flagship computer chip that is expected to arrive on laptop from popular brands this year, has been spotted in a benchmark test. A listing for the purported Surface Laptop 6 on Geekbench suggests that Microsoft's upcoming Surface laptop could beat Apple's MacBook Pro models that are powered by its latest M3 chip, in one CPU test. According to recent reports, Microsoft could launch Surface laptops equipped with Snapdragon X Elite chips at a hardware event in May.

The Surface Laptop 6 was spotted by WCCFTech on Geekbench, without an official product name. It is listed with the title "OEMBR OEMBR Product Name MFG" and the details show that it is powered by a Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 chipset at 4.01GHz, with 12 cores. It's worth noting that there are three Snapdragon X Elite variants, and the one that was benchmarked was not the most powerful chip — that variant (XIE-84-100) boasts a 4.20GHz boost clock speed.

The purported Surface Laptop 6 with a Snapdragon X Elite chip has a single-core score of 2,714 points, and a multi-core score of 14,078 points. This puts the chip ahead of Apple's 14-inch M3 MacBook Pro in Geekbench's multi-core tests — the M3 MacBook Pro scored 3,103 and 12,065 points, respectively.

If these benchmark tests are genuine, then Apple's M3 chip should be 13.37 percent faster than the Snapdragon X Elite on the rumoured Surface Laptop 6. Meanwhile, Qualcomm's chip is shown to be 15.4 percent faster than the M3 MacBook Pro. After all, the Snapdragon processor has more cores (12) than Apple's M3 chip (8).

It's worth taking these benchmarks with a grain of salt, as Microsoft is yet to announce any plans to launch new Surface models with Snapdragon laptop chips. According to a recent report, Microsoft is said to be confident that the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 can beat the latest 3nm Apple Silicon processor. We can expect to learn more about these rumoured devices soon — Microsoft is tipped to introduce new Surface laptops powered by Snapdragon chips at its next hardware event in May.

Bade Miyan Chote Miyan has seen a slight increase in box office numbers on its third Saturday. On day 17, the action film minted ₹ 65 lakh, according to a Sacnilk report. The movie has so far amassed ₹ 59.55 crore. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan features Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff in the lead roles. Movie buffs are also praising the performances of Manushi Chhillar as Captain Misha, Alaya Furniturewalla in the role of Doctor Parminder Bawa, and Prithviraj Sukumaran portraying Kabir, also known as Mr X. Released on April 11, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan has been produced by Pooja Entertainment and AAZ Films.

Bade Miyan Chote Miyan is a reboot of the 1998 movie of the same name. The original blockbuster featured Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda in leading roles. Before the film's release, producer Jackky Bhagnani shared an anecdote about Govinda's positive reaction to the trailer. In an interview with News18 Showsha, Jackky Bhagnani mentioned, “Amit (Amitabh Bachchan) uncle was busy but I got an opportunity to meet Chichi bhaiya (Govinda) at his house a day before the trailer launch of the film and showed him the trailer. He saw it and said to me, ‘Your director is a very good man.'”

“When I asked him how he could predict the same, he told me that Ali hasn't made a film but cinema with Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. We all know that Chichi bhaiya is a veteran and legend. I grew up in front of him. And his words gave me so much confidence. It was just amazing. I'm a creative person who's now producing. It made me so happy. All of us are working day and night so that people like what we made and praise us,” Jackky Bhagnani added.

In an NDTV review, film critic Saibal Chatterjee wrote, “But Bade Miyan Chote Miyan labours in the belief that star power can help a sloppy script paper over the effects of a glaring lack of substance. Captain Freddy is the sort of guy who thinks no end of himself. He will have Captain Rakesh alias Rocky (Tiger Shroff), his younger mate, believe that the latter would be a dead duck without the experience and maturity that the seasoned army man brings to the partnership. The latter, not one to be rolled over without a squeak, insists he is better off the way he is - fast and furious.”

Bade Miyan Chote Miyan has been released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.

Manisha Koirala On Working With Heeramandi Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali After 28 Years: "Was Very Thrilled"

Manisha Koirala is all set to feature in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's OTT debut series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. Ahead of the show's release, the Gupt star opened up about working with the ace director after a long wait of 28 years. Talking to NDTV, the actress revealed how the offer came her way. She said, "When I was offered this project, I was in Nepal, gardening and I was really thrilled. I waited for such a long time. It took 28 years of waiting and finally Sanjay came with a good project and i told him, 'Sanjay don't take another 28 years to offer me another good one.'"

She further continued, "I have seen his movies after Khamoshi. So much pleasure and joy it gives me to see his career graph and one after the other brilliant film he has made. At this age and stage in my life when I was offered this, I was really thrilled.

Talking about her experience of working in Heeramandi, the actress said, "I had 4th stage of cancer and to get a chance to life after that was like a second chance to life. I wasn't sure if i would live and how long I would live. In my work life, to work in a project like Heeramandi and to play this character, which has so layers, for me it was like a second life for an actor."

For the unversed, the actress will be playing Mallikajaan in Heeramandi, described as the “scheming” figure who “rules over an elite house of courtesans” in British-ruled India.

Mrunal Thakur On Losing Films As Her Parents Did Not Approve Of Intimate Scenes

Bollywood actress Mrunal Thakur, who was recently seen in film Family Star alongside Vijay Deverakonda, opened up about her discomfort with regard to doing intimate scenes on screen. In an interview with iDiva, the actress shared how she lost on a lot of films because her parents would not approve of them and she was not comfortable either. Mrunal said: “I was not really comfortable doing scenes which were intimate, like romantically. I would just get scared, I'd just say no to a film, but how long could I say no? There was a point I had to sit down with my parents and tell them that ‘Papa, I cannot miss a part because sometimes it's there, it's not my choice.”

She further continued, “As much as I wanted to do a film, I had to drop because there was a kissing scene involved. As an actor, you need to be ready because sometimes that's the demand (of the scene). If you are not comfortable, you can tell, you can talk about it but I kept missing out on films because of that.”

In an earlier interview with Humans Of Bombay,  the Love Sonia actress opened up about finding a balance between work and life. “It's important to balance life and career but you're always trying to figure out how to strike that balance. I know relationships are tough, and that's why you need to find the right partner who understands the nature of your job." On being asked about freezing her eggs as actress Mona Singh did, Mrunal Thakur said, "Freezing eggs, yes, I'm also considering that.”

Mrunal Thakur was last seen in Family Star alongside Vijay Deverakonda. Previously she was seen in Hi Nanna opposite Nani. She will soon star in Pooja Meri Jaan.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is all set to make his OTT debut with a web series titled Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. Ahead of the release of the magnum opus on May 1, the makers held a star-studded screening in Mumbai on Wednesday night. The screening was attended by some of the biggest stars in Bollywood including Alia Bhatt and Salman Khan. The Tiger actor, who has worked with the ace director in the iconic film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, was spotted arriving at the screening amidst heavy security. The actor was seen wearing a black shirt and jeans for the night. Alia Bhatt, who looked lovely in a white traditional outfit, was accompanied at the event by her mom Soni Razdan, and mom-in-law Neetu Kapoor. All three actors looked lovely as they flashed their brightest smiles for the camera. For the unversed, Alia Bhatt featured in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Gangubai Kathiawadi, which earned her the prestigious National Award last year.
