Met Gala 2023: The Moment Foreign Media Mistook Alia Bhatt For Aishwarya Rai Bachchan On The Red Carpet

Alia Bhatt, who made her grand Met Gala debut this year in New York, was mistaken for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan during her red carpet appearance. A video of a paparazzo screaming, "Aishwarya this way" at the Met Gala is circulating on Reddit. Alia Bhatt was calm and continued to pose for the paparazzi. This isn't the first time that an Indian celebrity has been misidentified at an international event. At the 95th Academy Awards this year, Deepika Padukone was misidentified by agencies Getty and AFP and magazine Vogue as Camila Alves in their Oscar coverage.

Earlier, a video of a fan in New York chanting "I love you" went viral. Alia replied to the fan and said, "Thank you. I love you too."

Alia Bhatt wore Prabal Gurung's creation for her Met Gala debut. The embroidery was made with a 100,000 pearls. An excerpt from Alia Bhatt's post read, "I have always been fascinated by the iconic Chanel brides. Season after season, the genius of Karl Lagerfeld shone through in the most innovative and awe-inspiring couture. My look tonight was inspired from this and in particular by supermodel Claudia Schiffer's 1992 Chanel bridal look."

Met Gala 2023: In Pics - He Came As A Giant Cat, Left As Jared Leto

If there is one thing we are not getting over, it is a dramatic dress reveal at the Met Gala. Lady Gaga did it once (Circa 2019) - with 4 outfits, the likes of Zendaya and Blake Lively carried forward the tradition. This year, it was actor Jared Leto who served a dramatic outfit transformation on the Met Gala red carpet. Keeping up with this year's theme "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line Of Beauty," the actor showed up as the late designer's beloved pet cat Choupette. Jared Leto's look was everything we hoped it to be - furry and dramatic. Don't miss the OTT mask. Underneath the catsuit, the actor wore a bedazzled cape, a sheer shirt of sorts that he paired with a pleated skirt and matching trousers.

Meta Said to Be Targeting $7 Billion in Its Second Blue-Chip Bond Sale

Meta Platforms emerged as the first mega-cap technology company to tap the US investment-grade bond market as turmoil in the financial sector has toppled five banks since March.

The social-media behemoth, which reported earnings last week, is looking to raise $7 billion (nearly Rs. 57,250 crore) in a five-part deal, according to a person familiar with the matter. The longest portion of the offering, a 40-year security, may yield 215 basis points over Treasuries, the person said.

Eleven companies have already come forward with bond offerings Monday as companies look to issue debt before the Federal Open Market Committee meeting and subsequent rate decision Wednesday. 

Meta raised $10 billion (nearly Rs. 81,790 crore) in its first ever corporate bond issue last year. The Facebook parent plans to use the fresh funds to help finance capital expenditures, repurchase outstanding shares of its common stock, and for acquisitions or investments, the person added.  

The Menlo Park, California-based company has spent the last months cutting costs and restructuring its workforce, while advertising sales rebounded in the first quarter. Even though it touts strong cash flow, the company is likely looking to shore up extra cash for future bond buybacks, according to Bloomberg Intelligence analyst Robert Schiffman.

“After it boosted repurchase authorization by $40 billion (nearly Rs. 3,27,160 crore) in January, we envision shareholder returns will keep growing — similar to Alphabet and Apple — as free-cash-flow prospects improve,” he wrote in a note. “With initial price talk wide to peers, we perceive little credit risk and strong relative value out the curve.”

Representatives for Meta did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Kartik Aaryan has shared pictures from his bodyguard Sachin's wedding festivities on Instagram. The actor looked smart in a lemon-yellow shirt and denim. The opening photo features Kartik and team posing with the newlyweds. The next picture is a selfie. Kartik is seen sharing the frame with Sachin and his wife Surekha. Along with the happy photos, Kartik Aaryan wrote, “Congratulations! Sachin aur Surekha.  Happy Married life ahead.” The pics have spread like wildfire on the social media platform. Before this, Kartik Aaryan celebrated the film wrap for Kiara Advani's character in Sameer Vidwans' Satyaprem Ki Katha. Redmi Note 12R Pro 5G With Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 SoC, 33W Fast Charging Launched: Report

Redmi Note 12R Pro 5G was reportedly launched in China on Saturday. It is the latest model to join the expansive Redmi Note 12 lineup. The lineup consists of the Redmi Note 12 5G, Redmi Note 12 4G, Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G, Redmi Note 12 Pr+ 5G, and the Redmi Note 12 Turbo. The new Note 12R Pro 5G is said to be equipped with a Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 SoC. The phone is a mid-range offering and is expected to go on sale in China soon. The company reportedly released the handset in a single storage and three colour options.

Launched in a sole 12GB + 256GB variant, the Redmi Note 12R Pro is priced at CNY 1,999 (roughly Rs. 23,700), according to a MySmartPrice report. The phone is said to be offered in Black, Gold, and White colour options. Redmi has not yet confirmed the launch or the sale date of the smartphone. The handset was also not listed on the company website, at the time of writing this story. It has also not been revealed if and when the model will see a global and/or Indian release.

The Redmi Note 12R Pro 5G reportedly comes with a 6.67-inch full-HD+ (1080×2400) OLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a peak local brightness of 1200 nits. The smartphone is said to be powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 SoC paired with 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 inbuilt storage. It reportedly runs Android 13-based MIUI 14.

The dual rear camera unit of the Redmi Note 12R Pro 5G is said to include a 48-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. According to the report, a 16-megapixel front camera is housed in a centre-aligned punch-hole slot at the top of the display.

The Redmi Note 12R Pro 5G reportedly packs a 5,000mAh battery unit with 33W fast charging support. For security, the phone has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, integrated with the power button on the right edge, the report adds.

The report also adds that the connectivity options of the Redmi Note 12R Pro 5G include 5G, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, dual-SIM card support, Bluetooth v5.1, and GPS. The handset comes with a 3.5mm audio jack, a USB Type-C port, and an IP53 rating, according to the report. It is said to weigh 188 grams and measures 165.88mm × 76.21mm × 7.98mm in size.

The Mani Ratnam film has been making all the right noises, ever since its release in theatres on Friday, April 28.

Film critic Saibal Chatterjee, in his review for NDTV, wrote, "PS-2 starts with a lavishly filmed, wonderfully mounted prologue that takes the audience back to the time of the young Aditha Karikalan's first meeting with orphan girl Nandini, who strays into the kingdom and catches the eye of the Chola prince. The film then dives into the many conspiracies, internecine tussles and secret liaisons that threaten the kingdom."

On Sunday, trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared a video on Twitter, stating that the movie has conquered hearts and the box office. He added that PS 2 is also "winning hearts worldwide". In the video, we can see the film has collected "100 plus crore worldwide gross". The text attached to the video read, "PS2 CONQUERS HEARTS and BOX OFFICE... #ManiRatnam's #PonniyinSelvan2 [#PS2] is winning hearts worldwide... Massive numbers all over. #PS2RunningSuccessfully." Ponniyin Selvan 2 features Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Vikram, Trisha Krishnan, Kaithi and Sobhita Dhulipala in crucial roles. The first part was released in September last year. The team Ponniyin Selvan 2 also came under one roof to watch the film. Aishwarya was joined by her husband, actor Abhishek Bachchan and daughter Aaradhya. Sharing a picture on Instagram, the makers wrote, "Cholas are back together to watch and celebrate #PS2!"

Ponniyin Selvan 2 is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's novel of the same name. It was released in theatres worldwide on Friday in Tamil. The dubbed versions of the film in Hindi, Kannada, Telugu and Malayalam are also being screened in cinema halls.
